The Laredo-Webb County Bar Association recently elected attorney Ron Rodriguez as President for the 2003–2004 term of office.
Also elected were Oscar Vela, president-elect; Sylvia Ornelas, vice-president; Jesus Guillen, secretary; Paul Saenz, treasurer and Raul Leal, CLE director.
Rodriguez had also been previously elected as President-Elect for the 2002–2003 term of office and was also the Board Director for Continuing Legal Education for the 2001–2002 term of office.
Also, Rodriguez was recently appointed by the President of the State Bar of Texas to the prestigious statewide office as a member of the State Bar of Texas Standing Committee on Court Rules for the 2003–2006 term of office.
Rodriguez is devoted to his community and is a respected, life-long resident of Laredo.
After graduating with Honors from United High School in 1986, Rodriguez received countless academic scholarships including scholarships from the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund, LULAC and the D.D. Hachar Scholarship Fund.
At The University of Texas at Austin, School of Business, Rodriguez earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 1990, with Dean’s List Honors.
But it was at the University of Texas School of Law where Rodriguez’ skills as a legal scholar and advocate flourished.
After law school, Rodriguez was a trial attorney for several firms throughout South Texas where he gained his own extensive experience, before opening his own firm here in Laredo.
Rodriguez has successfully served as Lead Trial Counsel in complex medical malpractice, wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury cases, and in major cases involving business, insurance, employment, real estate, lender liability, premises liability, personal injury, trucking and construction law.
Rodriguez’ most recent primary focus has been in pursuit of just redress in catastrophic personal injury cases. Rodriguez’ strong courtroom performance has enabled him to successfully recover millions in just redress for his injured clients.
As President of the Laredo-Webb County Bar Association, Rodriguez plans on joining with the local Legal Aid office, other attorneys, judges and others in founding the first Pro Bono Night Clinic for the poor.
Rodriguez also plans to establish a monthly newsletter for members of the Bar, and to increase member participation by obtaining prominent speakers at the monthly bar meetings.
Rodriguez’ main goal is to effectively serve the members of the local Bar, and establish the Laredo-Webb County Bar Association as an active and charitable member of our local community.
